Ancient Game 06:27
Around this place we have no face And on our backs a shadow makes It's way into our hearts And so it starts An ancient tale, the darkest veil Upon our eyes, a crude disguise And so we trip, we cry, and slip It pulls us down, it's never done How long we play wrong With blame in this game How blind is our mind To let it win How long we play this song All pain, insane How tall we stand, all Joined in our fall Lay down your frown And give us a chance
2.
Addiction 04:06
Sneaking behind saying the words you’re eager to find Whispering spells you don’t think I mind playing this part for you Put on a show tied up I’m sitting in the front row Watching the scene now look at you go Pulling us into your play Drama addiction here’s your affliction drowning me like a wave Drama addiction you’re my infliction what are you so afraid of? Take a step back look in the mirror try to keep track With every scratch and with every crack Weakening down your walls Drama addiction causing such friction Burning me like a flame Drama addiction it’s all just fiction Running around your head. Burning me like a flame Running around your head Burning me Drowning me

Own Devil 04:22
Found me here in a crossroad again Held my hand, and lead me astray Lines, on your face, I just cannot erase Trust, I once had, now turned to, my disgrace Walk the lines, you insist to stay by my side changing masks, switching sides, trolling my mind Found you there, crossed into my path I let you in, hiding from the aftermath I refuse to dig a hole and let us drown I have got my own devil holding on I have got my own devil holding on
4.
Demons 06:00
When the night falls When the silence spreads When it's time to lay The demons come out to play A deep breath, a long sigh Red eyes and mouth dry Standing up, turning side to side But during darkness They no longer hide (they no longer hide) Chase them down, they are having fun Call their name, they will up their game Push and shove, they will show you love Make way, they are here to stay Hide and cover, under pale white sheets And discover, they are at your feet Playing catch and some hide and seek With the shadows, coming from the street Whisper to them, they will lend an ear Understand that they are made of fear (they are made of fear) They may tease you They will laugh and taunt You could join them But it's what they want…

I'm pulling a rope to sit up in bed I'm trying to recall some dreams that I had I stare at a spot of light on the wall And wonder why my mind thinks sleep is so dull Some voices are talking about something odd And someone who's not me is thinking of god My cat keeps on whining about something new And two socks are thinking of something to do Where is my pillow? And where is my head? The clock on the stereo is making me mad Why am I thinking? And why so awake? Tomorrow I'm certainly starting to shake The fan on the ceiling is looking so calm Or maybe it's just me with no glasses on The wheels keep on spinning not tired at all Just stop them for Christ sake I'm trying to fall Asleep I'm trying to fall Asleep I'm trying to fall Asleep Where has it gone? And when it's done Tying my brain with a string of nylon My sleep Where has it gone? And when it's done Tying my brain with a string of nylon The blue sheets are getting so nervous I see Well what are you looking it's not up to me The silence is screaming at me to shut up I still try to make the monotony stop Where is my eyelid? And where is my bed? My dream list is waiting in line to be made For now just an hour or two maybe three The clock hands are starting to stare back at me Trying to fall, asleep ©Lilac RL

about

Once again combining composition and production by Shai Yallin with lyrics by Lilac Harel, Impostor Syndrome continues to push the envelope, exploring the terrain between metal, post-rock and electronic music.

With songs ranging between the traditional rock band ensemble and almost 100% electronics, Impostor Syndrome is laden with lush layers of Fender Rhodes, synthesizers, drone guitars and dreamy vocals.

“With Impostor Syndrome ”, says Yallin, “we pushed the envelope even further than we did with our debut release. Unrecognizable was deeply connected to our roots in Progressive Rock and Metal, while flirting with the electronics in the vein of acts like Anathema, Paatos and The Gathering - all being major influences on several members of the band. The new EP is less shy about leaving some of these influences behind, as well as bringing in new timbres reflecting new influences such as Tycho and Ott.”

“The words come from very personal, possibly dark corners of my heart and mind”, says Lilac, “From the haunting routine of insomnia and thoughts about the daily conflicts and consequences of politics and religion, to the heartache and confusion of abusive relationships and broken trust.
Turning these thoughts and feelings into songs creates a process of better understanding and accepting both oneself and the world around us.”

“This is in some sense almost a psychedelic album״, continues Shai, “with long, trippy pieces that develop slowly and steadily, lush layers of droning guitars and heavy use of tape echo effect, vintage synthesizers and the Fender Rhodes electric piano”.
